From 29th November to 1st December 2010 in the “Franciscan Center” of Ndola /Zambia, has taken place The Extraordinary Chapter of the Province of “Holy Protomartyrs of the Franciscan Order”. In this Chapter have taken part the same delegates as in the last Ordinary Chapter of 2008.

The Chapter was presided by the Minister Provincial fr. Patrick Chisanga (already 2nd Provincial of Zambian origin) it was attended also by the General Assistant for Africa/AFCOF, fr. Tadeusz Świątkowski, who represented the Minister General of the Order, fr. MarcoTasca.
The main objective of the Chapter was to review the existing Provincial Statutes. The process of preparation the review  was conducted by a special Commission nominated during the last Ordinary Provincial Chapter.
The present Chapter was conducted in a very fraternal atmosphere. On 2nd December all the Friars of the Zambia Province have been convoked in order to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Province’s Foundation. The ceremony of Jubilee was presided over by the bishop of Ndola, Alick Banda. In fact the Province was created at the moment of its 1st Ordinary Chapter in the year 2000.
At present the Province counts over 100 solemnly professed Friars e 66 in various steps of formation – among these are 7 Novices and 20 Postulants. The Province of Zambia is the first African jurisdiction of our Order /and for now the only one, which had the courage to open its own Mission “ad extra” in Malawi. The Mission was initiated in the year 2008 and at present there 5 friars-missionaries, all Zambians.
