The friars of the General Custody of Our Lady Help of Christians, Australia, gathered for their Custodial Assembly from Monday February 11 to Friday February 15 at the Retreat House of the Missionary Fathers of St. Paul in Melbourne, Victoria.

The first two days were spent in prayerful reflection and contemplation, with the guidance of Fr. Greg Homeming OCD, who gave the friars talks on living the spiritual life, on living the vows, and on being mendicant Religious.

The last few days were spent in discussion on particular issues, namely the Vietnam Mission; plans to develop the land at the Kellyville friary with a Garden of the Immaculate, and also discussion on other matters, such as vocational promotion, on-going formation, World Youth Day 08, and our presences in parishes and other ministries.

The friars also welcomed Fr. Iulian Misariu from Romania who has come to Australia to help the friars. This Assembly served as a half-way mark in the quadriennium, with the friars expected to gather for their Custodial Chapter late in 2009.
