The Friars of Our Lady of Czestochowa Friary (St. Maximilian Kolbe Custody) in Montreal, Quebec, were hosts for the first meeting of the new quadrennium for the Conventual Franciscan Conference August 31-September 2, 2010. During this meeting, Friar Christopher Deitz, OFM Conv., of St. Joseph Cupertino Province, was re-elected as president of the CFC. Friar Justin Biase, OFM Conv., of Immaculate Conception Province, was elected as Vice-President of the Conference.

The number one item on the agenda was the discussion of names to replace the late and beloved Friar John Joseph Dolan OFM Conv. as Assistant General for CAA. Names were surfaced and there was a thorough discussion ensured.

The friars also discussed the upcoming Chapter of Mats for the Conference, June 27-July 1 at Xavier University in Cincinnati. The Conference Commission on Continuing Formation and Education has been planning the Chapter of Mats, and it is hoped that there will be a good attendance from Friars across the Conference.

The next meeting of the CFC will take place February 7-9, 2011 at Holy Cross Friary in Mesilla Park, New Mexico.

Bob Roddy, OFM Conv.
