Meeting of the Presidents of the Conferences / Federations with the General Definitory

The annual meeting of the Presidents of the Conferences and Federations with the Minister General and his Definitory, took place at the General Curia in Rome from May 31 through April 5, 2010.

The whole General Definitory was present along with the Presidents: Friar VINCENZO COSATTI, President CEC; Friar ADAM KALINOWSKI, President CEO; Friar CHRISTOPHER DIETZ, President CFC; Friar GIANCARLO CORSINI, President CIMP; Friar TADEUSZ BRZOZOWSKI, President AFCOF; Friar ENRIQUE MONTERO, President FAAMC (awaiting his successor); Friar CARLOS ALBERTO TROVARELLI, President FALC.

In a warm climate of serenity and fraternal collaboration, the following topics were addressed: News from the Conferences and Federations; the Fraternal General Assembly of Argentina, 2010 (an evaluation and post-assembly initiatives which have begun); Update on the initiatives laid out in the Six Year Plan of the Order; reflection materials for the Friary Chapters (evaluations and suggestions); Update on the International Congress to be celebrated in Nairobi, Kenya, July 9-18, 2011; the Revision of the Constitutions (opportunity for continuing formation); update on initiatives in place as a result of Chapter Mandates; Canonical Visits (reflections in light of finding a different way of doing the visits); update on the activities of animation by the Government of the Order; update on WYD, 2011; approach to the 70th anniversary of the death of St. Maximilian Kolbe in 2011; approach to the centenary of the birth of the Second Franciscan Order in 2012.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, June 3, everyone participated in a Petrine Pilgrimage: a walk from the General Curia to the Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican, with a visit to the scavi under the Basilica and a moment of prayer at the tomb of St. Peter. A fraternal Evening Prayer and supper were enjoyed with the Friars of the Pentienzieri in the Vatican.

On Thursday, June 3, the Presidents also met with those responsible for the General Secretariats and General Offices, followed by a visit to the Kolbean museum and supper with the Friars of the Friar of St. Maximilian Kolbe in Rome.

The entire day of Friday, June 4, was dedicated to the meeting of the Commission “Pro Seraphico” at which the Formators and those responsible for the General Houses of Formation in Rome, participated.
