From October 19-22, 2009, about 100 friars of the Province of Our Lady of Consolation (USA) gathered at St. Meinrad Benedictine Archabbey in the countryside about an hour from Mount St. Francis, Indiana, the provincial house, in order to prepare for the Provincial Chapter, particularly the election of leadership (Minister Provincial, the Definitory, the Guardians, and Commission heads). In addition, the Custos of Mexico, accompanied by a Mexican friar who works in the United States, and the Minister Provincial of India, accompanied by one of the Definitors, were present, as well as the Assistant General for North America, Great Britain and Ireland.

The program included a report of the commission for Strategic and Long-range Planning, a guided process consisting of a discourse regarding leadership/service according to our charism, the proper texts regarding the roles (according to our Constitution and General Statutes) of the various ministries (Provincial, etc), a round table consisting of friars who have served in these roles (which included time for questions and answers), and the drawing up of lists of candidates. A straw ballot for Minster Provincial was taken, followed by a round table in which the five friars who received the highest number of votes presented their vision of the future of the Province and responded to questions from the friars.

The Custos of Mexico and the Minister Provincial of India also gave presentations regarding proposed collaboration between OLC province and these jurisdictions in the United States, Mexico and India.
