On May 10, 2009, the Formation House for the Theology students in Kenya celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the opening of the mission in Kenya (1984), and the 20th Anniversary of the opening of their own house (1989).

A Mass of Thanksgiving for the 25 years of the Mission was presided over by the Assistant General for AFCOF, Friar Tadeusz Świątkowski, and concelebrated by the Provincial Custos of Kenya, Friar Tadeusz Brzozowski, along with the present formators of the clerics, Friars Simon Muriithi, Rector, and Godfrey Oduor, Vice Rector.

The first Friars from the Province of Warsaw arrived at Ruiri Mission, Diocese of Meru, Kenya, in November of 1984. Because of the division of the Province of Warsaw in 1986, the new mission passed to the care of the newly formed Province of Gdansk, of which it remains a part today.

In 1989, the second Friary was erected, a House of Formation for the Mission – which for these past 20 years has been the place of formation for Theology students (studying at the inter-religious College in Tangaza), young Friars, coming from many African nations, but not only: Kenya, Zambia, Tanzania, Ghana, and some clerics from Poland.

The other Friaries of the mission are: Limuru from 1992; Nairobi South C. from 2005; Subukia National Marian Sanctuary from 2008. The formation of young Kenyans takes place in the following way: Postulantcy in collaboration with Tanzania, Novitiate in Zambia or Ghana, Philosophy in Zambia, and Theology in Nairobi (at the moment there are two student clerics at the Seraphicum and a Priest Friar specializing at the Gregorian in Rome).

In 2000 the Mission became a Provincial Custody, and as of today numbers 65 members, of which there are 22 Solemnly Professed (11 Kenyans), 12 Philosophy students, 12 Theologians, 4 novices, and 15 postulants.

The celebrations for the Jubilee will be taking place in each of the Friaries of the Custody at various times.
