For a whole week (June 1-6, 2009) the annual meeting with the Presidents of the seven Conferences / Federations was held in the General Curia of the Friary of the Twelve Holy Apostles in Rome.

Present were: FRIAR ÐIURO HONTIĆ (CEC), FRIAR ADAM KALINOWSKI (CEO), FRIAR CHRISTOPHER DEITZ (CFC),  FRIAR PIERGIORGIO VITELLI (CIMP), FRIAR TADEUSZ  BRZOZOWSKI (AFCOF), FRIAR ENRIQUE MONTERO (FAAMC), FRIAR CARLOS ALBERTO TROVARELLI (FALC).

There were many objectives for this meeting. Above all was the annual evaluation of the work of the Government of the Order, two years into their office, among which were: the initial expectations for the Six Year Plan of the Order (reflections for Conventual Chapters, evaluations and suggestions; the Fraternal General Assembly of 2010 in Argentina; the first presentation on the International Congress on Multicultural Fraternity and Mission in 2011 in Nairobi, Kenya; presentation and update on the work of the Revision of the Constitutions; presentations on various aspects mandated by the Chapter; animation activities of the Government of the Order; initial evaluation concerning the initiatives toward inter-Franciscan collaboration, primarily the evaluation of the International Chapter of Mats at Assisi. Then – in a type of guided tour – an awareness of the work that is done in the Curia, based on the direct contact with the various Assistant Generals.

There was also an intense exchange of information during the meeting at the Friary of St. Maximilian Kolbe with the Friars who work in the specific areas of particular interest to the Order: Postulator General (Friar Angelo PALERI); General Secretariat for Formation (Friar Lindor Alcides TOFFUL, Friar Roberto BRANDINELLI); General Secretariat for Mission Animation (Friar Jarosław WYSOCZAŃSKI; Friar Luciano MARINI); General Secretariat for JPSC-EID (Friar Francisco Nel LEUDO MURILLO,  Friar Silvestru BEJAN, Friar Peter Damian MASSENGILL); General Delegate for the SFO (Friar Martín BITZER); General Delegate for the II Order and Affiliated Institutes (Friar Edorardo BRENTARI).

Besides these informative aspects, the Minister General and his Definitory had to opportunity to give ample time to listening to the Presidents concerning expectations and proposals for change that would be of help to the Conferences/Federations.

On June 5 there was the annual meeting of the International “Pro Seraphico” Commission (see separate article).

We give thanks to God and all the participants in these seven intense days of looking at our Fraternity, sharing prayers, meals, and free time (although scarce), enjoying the personal contacts and the work that we do together in the vineyard of the Lord.
