With great sadness, we were informed that on Monday, April 23, 2009, around 9:00 PM, Friar Paolo Tosello returned to the House of the Father at Santo Spirito Hospital in Rome, at the age of 82.

Friar Paolo was born in Musano di Trevignano, Treviso, Italy on February 9. 1927; he entered the Order on January 10, 1943, took Temporary Profession on September 9, 1949, and Solemn Profession on October 4, 1952. He was part of the community of the Friary of The Saint in Padua (1949-1950), Friary of the XII Apostles in Rome (1950-1972), The Seraphicum in Rome (1972-1982), then returned to the XII Apostles until his death. He served as the economo both at the Seraphicum and at the XII Apostles.

The funeral liturgy was held at 10:30 AM on Monday, April 27. The Eucharist in the Basilica of the XII Apostles was presided over by Friar Marco Tasca, the Minister General, at which there were a number of concelebrants and a homily which reflected upon the life of Friar Paolo in the light of the Word of God. Among the participants for the Mass were Bishop Gianfranco Girotti, most of the General Definitory, and many Friars, friends, and family of Friar Paolo. He was buried at Verano Cemetery in Rome.

We express our condolences to the community of the Friary of the General Curia, his nephew Friar Livio Poloniato, our confrere, and the family. Let us remember our brother in prayer before the Lord.
