During the month of March, four joint regional days of the friars of the American provinces of Saint Anthony and the Immaculate Conception were held in various parts of the two jurisdictions – Chicopee (Massachusetts), Staten Island (New York), Ellicott City (Maryland), and Athol Springs (New York).

The sessions “On the Road to 2010” were part of the inter-provincial preparation for the next ordinary provincial chapters in 2010 in which the question of the proposed reunification of the two provinces will be decided. Both ministers provincial (Friars Justin Biase and Michael Kolodziej) were present at all the sessions, as well as other members of the provincial staffs. Reports were given by the various Focus Groups: Governance, Finances, Fraternal Life, and Mission and Ministry. There was an opening prayer service, four presentations (morning and afternoon), Midday Prayer, lunch, and Evening Prayer. The assistant general for the conference, Friar John-Joseph Dolan, took part in the fourth regional day held at our parish of St. Francis of Assisi, Athol Springs, on the 23rd of March 2009 and presided at Vespers, in which Friar Donald Grzymski preached.
