All of the Friars from the Slovenian Province of St. Joseph gathered for a Spiritual Chapter on November 24 and 25, 2008 at the Friary of Saints Peter and Paul in Ptuj. The theme of the Chapter was FRATERNITY.

Following the welcomes given by the Provincial, Friar Milan Kos, and the Assistant General, Friar Miljenko Hontić, the invocation of the Holy Spirit was made. The principal conference of the Chapter was then given by Friar Martin Kmetec, a missionary in Turkey. During his introductory meditation, he brought out two principles: The Meaning of Life and Fraternity, and The Fraternity and the Eucharist. The Friars then continued to work, being divided into four groups in which they actively participated. As each session of their work was completed, the groups would present the fruit of their labor and most important points in a plenary session. The first day concluded with the solemn Concelebration of the Eucharist presided over by the Provincial, and the closing Eucharist on the second day was presided over by the Assistant General. Prior to the conclusion, the steering committee had pulled together the most salient points of the Chapter that will be integrated into the Province Plan.

The Slovenian Province is already aware as a Province, of other aspects characteristics of fraternal and common life which are lived out in a simple way. With this Chapter, the Province desired to engage themselves in the Six Year Plan of the Order, going ever more deeply into the essential themes of our Conventual Franciscan Charism, desiring that this will be a more effective and concrete witness of the life and charism of the Friars Minor Conventual for our world today.
